Everyone likes celebrating championships, right? Georgia football has had a lot of opportunities to do that over the last few years, including this past season after winning the SEC Championship. And even though it’s April, those celebrations have not ended.
But before getting to that, there is some major transfer portal and recruiting news worth discussing surrounding the football program.
Transfer portal intel
One name most Georgia fans probably didn’t expect to transfer this spring is quarterback Ryan Puglisi. Puglisi is in the middle of a heated competition to win the starting job this fall, so it wouldn’t make much sense for him to leave the program right now.
However, On3’s Rusty Mansell shared that some schools have been inquiring about his services. But Puglisi has not shown any interest himself and it is not expected that he will be entering the portal this April.
Decision date looming for top ranked recruit
The No. 1 recruit in the country is offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell. He is someone that has been on Georgia’s radar for a long time, and Cantwell has also shown a lot of interest in Georgia as well.
That interest however hit an all time high when he announced his top four schools on Monday, which included Georgia, Miami (FL), Ohio State and Oregon. Cantwell also shared that he will be committing on April 30 as well.
There is no public leader in this recruitment right now, but the race is officially on for the top player in the country. And with an end date in sight, Georgia has their work cut for them if they are going to land him.
Football team unveils SEC Championship rings
Georgia won the SEC Championship in 2024, and with that comes a special ring for each member of the team. That ring was yet to be unveiled, that is until Georgia’s social media team posted the below video of the team reacting to their championship rings.

The goal moving forward is to not only win the SEC again, but get back on top of the college football world by winning a National Championship. But until then, these SEC Championship rings will do just fine as the team strives for more success in 2025.
