Wednesday night some big news hit the Vanderbilt football program as their star quarterback Jared Curtis showed up on their injury report. He was marked as questionable to play which means he could still play against Georgia this weekend, but there’s a chance he would be sidelined.
A new update to Curtis’ injury was just released on Friday, and even though the public still doesn’t know what injury he’s dealing with it sounds like he is going to attempt to play against Georgia on Saturday.

Jared Curtis presents the challenge Georgia needs to face
Heading into this season Georgia knew their first three games of the season were against easy competition. They however thought Oklahoma, led by quarterback John Mateer, would be their first true test last week. Instead Mateer didn’t play well at all and Georgia cruised to a 41-13 victory.
Mateer didn’t challenge Georgia like they expected, and at this point in the season UGA’s defense could use a matchup against a QB with extreme talent. That’s where Curtis comes in who has lived up to the hype that comes with being the No. 1 quarterback out of high school.
Georgia will face elite quarterbacks later this season against teams with better rosters than Vanderbilt. In fact, after playing Vandy three of their next four games are against teams currently ranked in the top 10 who have quarterbacks playing at a high level. Vanderbilt could give Georgia’s defense a chance to play against an elite talent if Curtis plays without putting up much of a fight on the scoreboard.
Facing Curtis will potentially set Georgia up for more success against the better teams with elite quarterbacks on their schedule later this season, so while their chances to beat Vanderbilt would increase if Curtis doesn’t play they still could be better off playing against him.
Vanderbilt is desperate while Georgia can afford to play it safe
If Vanderbilt wants any chance of beating Georgia they need Curtis to play. He is their superstar and without him there aren’t many players on their roster who pose much of a threat to Georgia.
Running back Nate Frazier is a superstar for Georgia in his own right who’s been on the Bulldogs’ injury report the last two weeks. He even missed last week’s game against Oklahoma. Georgia however doesn’t need him to beat Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt will need to play Curtis even if he’s a little injured if they want to compete with Georgia. Georgia however could let Frazier rest and still probably win this game by at least three scores.
It remains to be seen what Vanderbilt and Georgia decide to do with their superstars, but how badly each team actually needs each player in this game could determine if they suit up or not.
