Seven Bulldogs receive the preseason honor; however, not a single one comes from the offensive side of the ball.

The Georgia defense may return to its typical glory this season, as the Phil Steele 2025 Preseason All-American Team has anything to say about it. The Bulldogs have always been known for their stout defense and an offense that does enough to solidify the win, but in the 2024 season, the Georgia defense did not look as it always has.

Things seem like they could change rather quickly for the Georgia defense in the 2025 season. The Georgia Bulldogs have seven players named to the Phil Steele 2025 Preseason All-American Team, four of them coming from the defensive side of the ball. The other three all come from special teams.

Here are the players listed to the preseason team:

First Team

  • CB Daylen Everette
  • P Brett Thorson

Second Team

  • LB CJ Allen
  • LS Beau Gardner

Third Team

  • DT Christen Miller
  • S KJ Bolden

Fourth Team

  • K Peyton Woodring

Everette and Thorson were the lone Bulldogs to make the first team. Everette had a solid season in his junior year, but is looking to make even more strides in 2025. In 2024, Everette totaled 58 tackles, three interceptions, three pass breakups, two tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and one sack. Thorson also had a solid 2024 season, even though it was cut short by injury, as he averaged 47.6 yards per punt.

Allen became a starter in 2024, and he found a home in that role as he recorded 76 total tackles, four pass breakups, three tackles for a loss, and an interception. Entering his third season, Allen is looking to take even more steps forward. Gardner has been the long snapper for the Bulldogs for just one season after transferring from UCLA and earned All-SEC honors from coaches.

Miller and Bolden are both considered to be game changers this next season on the defensive side of the ball. They are also expected to take up more of a leadership role in 2025. Woodring had a strong freshman season and could be of even more use by the Bulldogs in 2025, with the offense hoping to take steps forward as well.
