Georgia faces severe scheduling disadvantage during the 2025 season

This will make repeating as SEC Champions a lot more difficult for Georgia.

Georgia football enters the 2025 college football season as the defending SEC Champions. This title comes with a lot of challenges because every other team in the SEC would love nothing more than to be the program that takes that title from UGA.

So every SEC game this season will be that much more difficult because the eight SEC teams Georgia plays this year will have that much more focus and attention placed on the game.

However, another major hurdle in Georgia's way this season is their schedule, which once again will be one of the toughest not only in the SEC, but the entire country. The Bulldogs will have to play Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Auburn and Florida this season, and all six teams are more than capable of winning a lot of games this season.

But there's another quirk in Georgia's schedule that will make things even more challenging for UGA.

SEC scheduling quirk makes things even more difficult for Georgia

Every SEC team will have two bye weeks throughout this coming season. So it goes without saying that each team will have a slight advantage in the game following their bye weeks after having more time to prepare and get healthy.

Georgia got a great draw when it comes to their bye weeks because they will play Alabama and Florida in the games after their two bye weeks this season. But unfortunately for UGA, four of their SEC opponents this season will be coming off a bye week leading up to their matchup.

Both Alabama and Florida will also have a bye week before playing Georgia, so the Bulldogs won't gain an advantage there. Texas and Auburn also have a bye week right before playing Georgia this season as well, which will really benefit them as they look for revenge against Georgia this season.

Time will tell how much this scheduling quirk impacts the 2025 season, but this is yet another hurdle Kirby Smart and Georgia will have to get past if they are going to repeat as SEC Champions this season.
