There are a lot of reasons why Georgia should be confident in their matchup against Ole Miss this weekend. However, there are plenty of reasons why Ole Miss has an advantage over Georgia as well.
One of those advantages is due to the nature of how Georgia won their game against Auburn this past weekend as it has presented the perfect opportunity for a hangover game.
Georgia faces clear disadvantage against Ole Miss
Georgia defeated Auburn this past weekend in what turned into an extremely emotional game. The Bulldogs struggled mightily for most of the first half and found themselves trailing the Tigers by 10 points. That is when everything flipped and Georgia went on to win 20-10.
There were countless controversial moments and huge plays throughout this game that led to this arguably being Georgia's biggest win so far this season. So factoring in how Georgia won this game, against one of their hated rivals nontheless, makes moving on and getting ready for their next game extremely difficult.
Whenever a team has a big win like this they can fall victim to what is called a hangover game. This essentially means that a team will struggle the following week because they took too long to move on from their previous win the week prior. And based on how emotionally charged Georgia's win over Auburn was, UGA's game against Ole Miss is a perfect opportunity to have a hangover game.
Ole Miss being the No. 5 team in the country and undefeated should help Georgia avoid a hangover game, but there is a very real chance UGA falls victim to this. The Rebels however are too good of a team for Georgia to not give their full attention to, so hopefully they have moved past their win over Auburn and are focusing as much as they can against Ole Miss this week.
