There was one thing on the mind of every Georgia fan when the official College Football Playoff bracket was first revealed. Georgia and Miami were placed on the same side of the bracket, so this meant there was a chance UGA could face their former star quarterback Carson Beck.
The odds were against that happening because Miami was the 10-seed. They had to go on the road and beat 7-seed Texas A&M then beat 2-seed Ohio State before a matchup with Georgia could occur, but that is exactly what they did.
Now all that needs to happen for this matchup to occur is a Georgia victory over Ole Miss at the Sugar Bowl. Miami's victory over Ohio State Wednesday night however has created an unforeseen problem for Georgia in their matchup against the Rebels.
Carson Beck created a new problem for Georgia
Georgia fans are allowed to look ahead and dream about a potential matchup against Beck and Miami. The fanbase has no impact on the outcome against Ole Miss, so they are allowed to be as distracted as they want. The team however can't afford to look ahead to this potential matchup though.
If Georgia looks ahead and thinks about playing Beck and Miami that could seriously impact their performance against Ole Miss. The Rebels are too good of a team that UGA can't afford to not give their full attention to. But the potential of playing their former quarterback who ditched them last offseason will be tough for them to not think about.
The good news for Georgia is that they are predicted to beat Ole Miss. That clearly does not matter though because Vegas though Ohio State would destroy Miami and that did not happen.
Beck and Miami pulling off the upset over Ohio State created a new problem for Georgia as they may not be as focused on Ole Miss as they should be. Kirby Smart however likely has a plan for this, so he will do everything he can to ensure his guys stay focused on the task at hand.
