Georgia fans are dealing with a bad case of deja vu

Fair warning, Georgia football fans will not like the contents of this post.

No Georgia fan needs to be reminded about the issues with the Bulldogs last season. Some may think that list is pretty long (which it is), but the problem at the top of that list is UGA's wide receivers. This group led the nation in dops last season which is the complete opposite of a winning formula.

Georgia was somehow still able to win the SEC even though they couldn't consistently catch the football, but UGA fans exited the 2024 season hoping they would never experience that monstrosity again.

Unfortunately Georgia is suffering the exact same fate so far this season.

Georgia's continued problem with catching the football will make UGA fans puke

Through two games of the 2024 season, the Bulldogs had just two drops as a team. Overall averaging one drop per game is still annoying, but all things considered it isn't all that bad. Fast forward to this season and Georgia is actually on a much worse pace.

Through the first two games of the 2025 season, Georgia has had five drops already. This means they are on pace for 30 drops in the regular season alone which is far too many.

Georgia's offense struggled a lot on Saturday against Austin Peay, and Gunner Stockton so far has shown he isn't willing to throw the deep ball down the field, so the last thing UGA needs is their receivers dropping the ball when a pass is actually put on the money.

The good news about this season is no player has more than one drop. One could argue that could be a negative because Georgia has had five individual players with a drop this year, but maybe that can be written off as early season jitters.

Regardless, this is a trend that cannot continue. If Georgia wants to repeat as SEC Champions they can't afford to have this many drops, so look for UGA's pass catchers to have a much more reliable performance on Saturday against Tennessee.
