Life with Kirby Smart as Georgia's head coach has been so nice. All of the championships, top ranked recruiting classes and big wins over elite programs has spoiled the fanbase more than anyone realizes.
All of this success has made it really easy for Georgia fans to overlook what took place on Saturday during UGA's win over Kentucky. And that is a simple, blowout win from the moment the game began.
Georgia fans can't take for granted how easy it was to beat Kentucky
Georgia had about as comfortable of a win as they possibly could have against Kentucky on Saturday. The Bulldogs ultimately won 35-14, but from the opening kickoff this was never a close game.
Georgia received the opening kick and marched down the field in 12 plays to take a 7-0 lead. The Bulldogs defense got a quick stop right after that before UGA went on a 13 play, 96 yard drive to extend their lead to 14 points. So very quickly Georgia separated themselves in this game and gave Kentucky no chance to win, and they flexed their muscles the rest of the afternoon en route to a comfortable win.
Some fans might want to take this win for granted because that is what Smart does. Georgia does not lose to unranked opponents, so it's easy to overlook this game and anticipate bigger games on the schdule later this season. But don't say that to Penn State and Texas.
Penn State and Texas both played really bad teams on Saturday and were big favorites in their respective games. But what happened? They both lost in embarrassing fashion to an unranked team.
This shows that anything is possible in college football and any team can suffer a loss even to the worst teams in the country. But that never seems to happen to Georgia. The Bulldogs always handle their business against teams like Kentucky usually in dominant fashion, and that is something Georgia fans should never take for granted.
