The hatred of rival head coaches by a fanbase is just how rivalries work, and if there is one thing that Bulldog fans are, it is loyal to Georgia, which means hating their rivals. Not every hated head coach is a rival, though, but some just seem to get under the skin of other fan bases.
Georgia certainly had some head coaches throughout the years that they haven't loved, from Steve Spurrier at Florida to Nick Saban when he was with Alabama. Some coaches just know how to get other fanbases fired up with the way their team plays, the things stye say in interviews, or simply how they coach a game.
So here are three current college football head coaches that Georgia fans love to hate.
Brent Key
This one definitely makes a lot of sense, as Brent Key is the head coach for Georgia Tech, which may be a one-sided rivalry right now, is still a rivalry. Key also hasn't hidden his hate and animosity towards the Bulldogs. Key once expressed in an interview just how far his hate for Georgia goes.
"There's nothing I hate more in the world," Key said. "It's probably the only thing I actually hate."
Should someone remind Key that the last time Georgia Tech beat Georgia was back in 2016, and the Yellow Jackets have only beaten the Bulldogs four times in the last 25 years? This rivalry might be "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate," but a rivalry means that both sides win games on a regular basis, and Georgia Tech seems to get lucky just about every five to 10 years. Key should probably stay at his university, and Georgia will just keep winning championships.
Dabo Swinney
The rivalry between Georgia and Clemson may not be the most hated and traditional rivalry, but it is still one that the Bulldogs take very seriously. Kirby Smart has lost a couple of games and recruiting battles to Dabo Swinney, but he hasn't also spoken very well on the transfer portal, which is what has helped Georgia in their blowout wins over the Tigers.
Swinney is a coach in college football that a lot of fan bases love to hate, and the Georgia Bulldogs are probably close to the top as these schools are close enough for a heated rivalry, but again, one that Georgia has done well in recently.
Ryan Day
Unlike the other two coaches, Georgia does not face Ryan Day very often, but when these teams do face off, it always ends in a close win or loss, and fans from the other side are very unhappy. Georgia and Ohio State have only faced off twice in their program history, once in the College Football Playoff in 2023, and the other time back in 1993 in a New Year's Six Bowl game. Georgia has come out on top both times, with their most recent battle being a narrow 42-41 victory over the Buckeyes.
Day is like Swinney, where many college football fans are not fans of him, but Georgia fans also know that they have to fight tooth and nail for recruits with Ohio State, putting Day near the top of the list of hated coaches by Georgia fans.
