One of the biggest college football personalities that regularly finds a way to get on Georgia football fan's nerves is Paul Finebaum. Finebaum hosts his own college football show and is known for being one of the biggest college football analysts and reporters when it comes to the SEC.
One would assume that since Finebaum is a big SEC guy that he would have a lot of nice things to say about Georgia after all the success they've had in recent years. But that isn't the case. In fact, a couple days ago Finebaum took a shot at Georgia while giving Carson Beck a lot of praise for transferring to Miami (FL).
So it goes without saying that Finebaum is not in the good graces of Georgia fans. However, the most recent quote from Finebaum that went viral might actually win over some UGA fans.
"I frankly believe Georgia's problem is at the offensive coordinator's position... Kirby Smart for as great as I believe he is... is being too loyal to Mike Bobo and I would get rid of Bobo today...I think you could walk down Peachtree Street and get a better offensive coordinator than Bobo."
Is Mike Bobo Georgia's biggest problem?
It was pretty clear that most of the problems with last year's team had to do with the offense. The Bulldogs' defense likely was good enough to win a National Championship, but the offense unfortunately was not.
And a lot of the blame for these issues fell on Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo. So much so that Georgia fans were calling for Bobo to be fired the second Georgia's season ended at the hands of Notre Dame. But was Bobo the biggest problem on offense for Georgia?
A lot went wrong with Georgia's offense last season, and the two things that stood out the most were the inconsistent play from Beck and the wide receivers leading the nation in drops. So there is plenty of blame to go around from this past season on offense. However, at the end of the day the success or failures of the offense falls on Bobo, whether it is directly his fault or not.
Sure these two examples maybe weren't his fault entirely, but one could argue that Bobo should have had his offense more prepared before every game. There were also a lot of questions surrounding the scheme that Bobo ran as some of the play calls he made were borderline insane.
So at the end of the day, it is hard to say if Bobo should be fired this offseason or not. Georgia still won the SEC and made the College Football Playoff with him in charge of the offense, but Georgia's goals are much greater than that. So if the offense doesn't take a step in the right direction in 2025, then Kirby Smart might have to do what Georgia fans and Finebaum think he should do now and get rid of Bobo.
