Georgia and Texas find themselves in the same position they always seem to find themselves in.

Texas has quickly become one of Georgia's biggest rivals. Sure they aren't a rival in the same way that Florida, Auburn and Georgia Tech are, but ever since they joined the SEC the Bulldogs have been in multiple battles with the Longhorns.

Three of those battles have occurred on the field, but these two programs have gone against each other on the recruiting trail more times than anyone could count. And it just so happens that is happening once again, but this time it could be very bad news for Georgia.

Georgia is caught in a bad situation against Texas

Rivals' Jed May shared that Georgia and Texas are battling for yet another recruit on the recruiting trail. May did not share who that recruit is, but he did point out one key fact. That fact surrounds this recruit's NIL offers with his offer from Texas being much larger than Georgia's offer.

This has become a common theme on the recruiting trail over the last few years, especially when Georgia battles Texas. The Longhorns have shown they are willing to spend obscene amounts of money for any recruit they they want. Georgia on the other hand isn't willing to overspend for any one player out of high school as they would rather save their money for players that have proven themselves at the college level.

This descrepancy has already played out a couple times, most notably with five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson. Atkinson was one of the top players in the 2026 recruiting class who was also from the state of Georgia, and throughout his recruitment he visited Athens over 10 times. He however only visited Texas once, and after a huge NIL offer he chose the Longhorns over Georgia.

Could this same story be unfolding agin? Or will Georgia be able to overcome a big difference in their NIL offers? Only time will tell, but based on how these recruitments have unfolded in the past it seems likely that Georgia will fall short with whoever this recruit is.
