One of Georgia football's top commits in their 2026 recruiting class is running back Jae Lamar. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Lamar is the No. 124 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 12 running back in his class and the No. 15 overall player from the Peach State as well.

Lamar is one of Georgia's most important commitments not only because of how talented he is but because he is the only running back in UGA's class. So losing him would create a serious problem for Georgia's recruiting class.

Unfortunately his commitment may be in jeopardy because he reportedly is no longer playing high school football.

“Unfortunately, he’s no longer with us,” Colquitt Country head coach Sean Calhoun said via dawgnation.com.

4-star Georgia commit Jae Lamar no longer with his high school program

At this point it is unclear why Lamar is no longer with the program, but according to DawgNation's Jeff Sentell it sounds like Georgia will do some digging to see if they need to get involved.

“DawgNation has been told that UGA has yet to look deeply into the matters behind that decision, but those will likely be forthcoming,” Sentell shared.

Lamar is one of the most talented running backs in the country, so Georgia will be hesitant to make any rash decisions surrounding his standing with the program. But until more details about why he is no longer with his high school program come out, anything is possible.

Georgia's 2026 recruiting class currently sits at No. 2 in the country. They also have the top ranked class in the SEC as well. If Georgia wants to remain at the top of the conference they are going to have to keep Lamar in their class, but only time will tell if he remains a Georgia commit or not.
