Georgia football adds another 5-star to 2025 recruiting class

Did you think the fireworks were over for Georgia football's 2025 recruiting class? Now that we are almost in February, everyone has turned all of their attention to the 2026 recruiting class and gearing up for the next season in the fall. Everyone other than Kirby Smart and his staff.

The Bulldogs signed the No. 2 recruiting class in the country, coming in behind the Texas Longhorns who signed the nation's best 2025 class. Sure it isn't fun being behind an SEC program, but no one should be upset with finishing at No. 2.

However, just because Georgia signed an elite class already doesn't mean they can't add more talent to it. And that's exactly what Georgia did late on Monday night.

5-star kicker Connor Ferguson

According to Radi Nabulsi with Rivals, Georgia has added five-star kicker Connor Ferguson to their 2025 recruiting class. Adding a special teams player may not be the most exciting pickup in the world, but special teams is more important than most people think. So many games every season are won and lost on the backs of special teams players, so Georgia needs to add elite talent their as well if they want to compete for championships. And that is exactly what they did with Ferguson.

Ferguson checks in as the No. 7 kicker in the 2025 Kohl's Kicking rankings, which are the official recruiting rankings for kickers. This does make Ferguson a five-star, but rankings and stars are handled a little differently when it comes to kickers compared to other positions.

This addition will not impact Georgia's 2025 recruiting class in the team rankings, so they will still stay behind the Longhorns at No. 2. But at the end of the day, does any of that even matter? Georgia will be much better with the addition of Ferguson, so this is a commitment that UGA fans should be extremely excited about even if kicker might not be the most exciting position on the team.
