Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban is the one man that Kirby Smart and Georgia have been unable to overcome. Even though Georgia did beat Saban to win their first National Championship under Smart, he still had complete control of the SEC and college football word until he announced his retirement.
His exit from college football was a welcome site by Georgia fans because of UGA’s constant struggle against him and Alabama. But a new rumor is floating around indicating that Saban could make a return to college football.
Greg McElroy just said on @macandcube that a notable “in-the-know” CFB personality has told him that he believes that legendary Alabama HC Nick Saban is not done coaching.

Asks Paul Finebaum on air if he’s buying it and Finebaum responds with a heavy “no.”
Nick Saban could return to coaching college football
According to the above post, former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy said that he’s heard Saban might not be done coaching college football. While Saban’s retirement really wasn’t all that surprising because of his age, him returning to college football as a coach would be the biggest news in recent college football history.
It’s worth mentioning that the above post also indicates that Paul Finebaum does not believe Saban will ever become a coach in college again, but there are some people “in the know” who think it could happen.
The fact that Saban could return to college football is really scary for Georgia. Who knows where Saban would end up if he does become a coach again, but seeing Saban on any sideline would be intimidating after all of Georgia’s struggles against him during his time at Alabama.
Even after the statement from someone as trustworthy as McElroy, it does seem very unlikely Saban will ever coach college football again. Saban’s 73 years old now and has a pretty good gig as a college football analyst that is much easier and less time consuming than being a coach. Saban also has accomplished everything college football has to offer as well, so he has nothing left to prove in the sport.
But at the end of the day, if Saban wants to return to coaching there will be plenty of programs lining up to pay him a lot of money to take over their program, so only time will tell if this rumor comes true or not.
