Georgia football's season has not gone exactly as planned so far this season. The Bulldogs already have two losses this year, which does not meet the expectations set every season for Georgia. On top of that, those two losses have all come in conference play, which makes it very challenging to accomplish one of Georgia's annual goals.

Winning an SEC Championship.

After Kirby Smart and Georgia lost to Ole Miss a couple weeks ago, they still had an outside chance to make the SEC Championship game in Atlanta. But they needed a lot of help from other teams while also needing to beat a top 10 Tennessee team. UGA was able to get the job done against Tennessee, but even then they still needed a lot of help.

But it just so happens that three results went UGA's way on Saturday, which allowed Georgia to punch their ticket to the SEC Championship game for the fourth season in a row.

Top SEC teams all losing

Saturday was a wild day in all of college football, especially in the SEC. It all started with Georgia struggling with UMass a little bit, before pulling away and winning 59-21. While Georgia was handling their business, the first big upset in the SEC was unfolding as Florida knocked off No. 9 Ole Miss 24-17.

After this loss by the Rebels, Georgia still needed two SEC teams who were favored to win their games to get knocked off on the road. The first was No. 7 Alabama at Oklahoma. Nobody saw the Tide losing this game, but the Sooners destroyed Alabama 24-7.

Last but not least was No. 15 Texas A&M who still only had one conference loss. They were playing at Auburn, a game which ended up going to four overtimes. Auburn ended up winning the game 43-41, which officially clinched Georgia's spot in the SEC Championship game.

The Bulldogs have to wait one more week to find out who their opponent will be, but it is already known that their opponent will be the winner of next week's game between Texas and Texas A&M. A rematch with Texas is a little intimidating, so in a perfect world Georgia would get to face the Aggies for an SEC title.

This year of college football is weird because all of the SEC teams that had two losses heading into this weekend didn't really want to make it to Atlanta. The fear was if they earned their third loss in this extra game that this would keep them out of the College Football Playoff. However, these three teams all lost before getting there, so they no longer have to worry about that.

So hopefully Georgia wins this game so they don't have to worry about that, which would also earn them a top four seed in the CFP and a first round bye.
