The NFL Playoffs are winding down as the conference championship games in the NFC and AFC took place this weekend. And to no one's surprise, Georgia football has a ton of former Bulldogs fighting for their lives with a chance to make it to the Super Bowl on the line.
Speaking of the Super Bowl, Georgia is on fire when it comes to having former players make the Super Bowl. In fact, the Philadelphia Eagles win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday afternoon guaranteed that at least one Bulldog will play in the Super Bowl again this season.
Georgia fans are very used to seeing former Bulldogs make it to the Super Bowl, but how many years in a row has this occurred?
24 straight seasons with a former Bulldog in the Super Bowl
As mentioned, the Eagles beating the Commanders means that a former Georgia Bulldog will play in the Super Bowl again this season. This marks the 24th straight season where a Bulldog will play in the Super Bowl, which is tied for the longest active streak along with LSU.
It's very satisfying that the Eagles were the team to clinch this feat for Georgia considering all of the former Bulldogs on their team. In fact, there are four Bulldogs on the 53-man roster for the Eagles, including Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Jordan Davis and Kelee Ringo.
The Commanders do not have a Bulldog on their active roster, but there are two Bulldogs on both of the teams in the AFC Championship game (Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills). So even if Philly lost this game, Georgia still would have extended their streak to 24 years when the Chiefs or Bills won later on Sunday night.
But it's exciting that the Eagles won because now it is guaranteed that a former Bulldog will win a Super Bowl this season.
