Georgia football found out on Thursday that they’re in a heated recruiting battle for a priority in-state recruit. It’s important for Georgia to win the recruitment for every in-state recruit they target because the last impression anyone at Georgia wants to give off is that kids from their backyard don’t want to come to Athens. Thankfully that has not been the case in recent years at Georgia, but nobody wants that thought to creep into anyone’s minds even a little.

But this task is very difficult to accomplish when three elite SEC programs are doing their best to enter Georgia’s state lines and convince this player to leave the state.

4-star DL Tico Crittendon

Tico Crittendon is a four-star defensive lineman from Lithonia, GA. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Crittendon is the No. 298 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 37 defensive lineman and the No. 35 overall player from Georgia as well.

It is worth mentioning that Rivals is much higher on Crittendon as they have him as the No. 7 defensive tackle in the 2026 recruiting class. That is clearly a large gap from where 247Sports has him, but it shows that there is a lot of potential with Crittendon in some experts’ eyes.

Sam Spiegelman with Rivals shared a big update on Thursday as Crittendon announced four official visits he will take later this summer. His first visit will be to Georgia beginning May 30 with three more visits the following three weekends to Auburn, Texas and Tennessee.

It’s unclear who the leader in this recruitment is right now, but this will be a fun one to follow as Kirby Smart and his staff are up against three of their biggest rivals in the SEC. And the last thing anyone wants to do is see an in-state prospect leave the state and go elsewhere to any of these programs.
