Georgia football flips 4-star offensive tackle on Thanksgiving
Typically Thanksgiving is not the biggest day for recruiting news, but that didn't stop Kirby Smart and Georgia football from making some waves on the recruiting trail.
The early signing period for the 2025 recruiting cycle is about a week away, so now is the time that Smart and his staff need to be making big moves so they can retain the No. 1 overall recruiting ranking in the 2025 class. And the latest commitment they earned on Thanksgiving will definitely help Georgia accomplish that goal.
4-star offensive tackle Dennis Uzochukwu
According to Hayes Fawcett with On3, four-star offensive tackle Dennis Uzochukwu has flipped his commitment from Georgia State to Georgia.
According to On3, Uzochukwu is the No. 189 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 16 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 22 overall player from the state of Georgia.
Uzochukwu had been committed to Georgia State since early July, but that was before Georgia began showing a lot of interest in this recruitment. But once Smart and the Bulldogs got involved this recruitment ended in a hurry.
Georgia didn't offer Uzochukwu until Nov. 18 and then Uzochukwu quickly took an official visit to Georgia for the Bulldogs' win against UMass. Uzochukwu obviously loved what he saw because less than a week later he made his commitment to Georgia official.
Uzochukwu is now the fifth offensive lineman committed to Georgia's 2025 class, and it comes at a position that arguably is one of the most important on the football field. So this pickup from Smart is about as good as any other that Georgia will get this cycle, because Smart identified an elite talent late in the cycle and was able to get him in Georgia's class in the matter of two weeks.
Hopefully Smart and his staff are able to get more commitments like this in the next week, that way they can finish with the top class in the country for the second year in a row.
