Georgia football entered week two of the college football season as the No. 4 team in the country, but they did not look like the no. 4 team during their 28-6 victory over Austin Peay. The Bulldogs defense and special teams more than lived up to the hype, but it was Georgia's offesnse that failed to live up to UGA's standard.
28 points just isn't good enough against an FCS opponent like Austin Peay, especially when Georgia was predicted to win by 48 points. There were countless miscues from an early turnover, a missed opportunity at the end of the first half and the unwillingness to push the ball down the field. Put all of those struggles together and it's hard to imagine Georgia staying at No. 4 in the updated AP Poll.
And the AP voters agree as Georgia fell all the way to No. 6 in the week three AP Poll.
SEC teams in updated AP Poll
The AP Poll is one of the things college football fans love to dissect and disagree with the most, but no Georgia fan will disagree with the voters decision this week. In all honesty, Georgia probably could have fallen further than No. 6, but that is where the Bulldogs sit entering week three of the college football season.
Ohio State stayed put at No. 1 followed by Penn State and LSU at No. 2 and No. 3. Oregon made a big jump to No. 4 after their 69-3 win over Oklahoma State, and Miami (FL) stayed put at No. 5 this week.
Georgia has a huge opportunity in front of them this week as the Bulldogs travel to Knoxville to take on No. 15 Tennessee. A win would likely send Georgia flying back up the rankings while a loss will potentially drop them outside of the top 10.
Hopefully Georgia is at their best this week, because no UGA fan can stomach seeing the Bulldogs outside of the top 10.
