Georgia football fans are becoming more and more concerned at this point in the transfer portal season because Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs are yet to earn a commitment from the portal. Those concerns hit an all time high on Tuesday when coveted wide receiver Dane Key committed to Nebraska after he was predicted by recruiting experts to Georgia.

The lack of commitments from the portal haven't been from a lack of effort though, and that effort is continuing as Pete Nakos with On3 reported that Georgia has been in communication with a new running back in the portal.

Utah State transfer running back Rahsul Faison

One of the positions that Georgia has not been too active with in the portal is running back. And it's clear why because UGA likely will return a lot of production at the position next season. But Georgia has reportedly been in contact with Rahsul Faison, who is a transfer running back from Utah State.

Faison is coming off an electric season with Utah State as he recorded 198 carries for 1,109 yards and eight touchdowns. He also added 22 receptions for 99 additional yards as well. This season wasn't a fluke either as his freshman season was just as good as he recorded 118 carries for 736 yards and five touchdowns.

According to Nakos, Florida State, Utah, UCF, Iowa State, Cincinnati, North Carolina, Cal, Kansas State and Kentucky have also reached out to Faison since he entered the portal.

His stats the last two years at Utah State make it quite obvious why Georgia is interested. However, hopefully he isn't turned off by the fact that Georgia will be returning Nate Frazier and Trevor Etienne, if Etienne foregoes the 2025 NFL Draft. If Etienne does not return, then Faison joining Georgia would make a lot more sense. But imagine adding Faison to this elite group of UGA running backs next season. That would immediately become the best backfield in the country.

Hopefully that is what happens, because there is a good chance Georgia will have to lean on their running game more next year compared to this season, so the more elite backs they have the better.
