Georgia football's dominance on the recruiting trail in the 2026 class has been well documented, but the Bulldogs have lost their fair shared of recruitments as well. Unfortunately for Georgia, a lot of those losses have come at the hands of just a couple programs.

On Friday Rivals shared who they think the hottest recruiting rivalry is between two programs from different conferences, and that rivalry is between Georgia and Miami (FL).

Georgia and Miami are college football's biggest recruiting rivalry

Georgia has had a lot of heated recruiting battles with Texas and Alabama throughout the 2026 recruiting cycle. However, Georgia potentially has gone up against Miami the most throughout this year's recruiting cycle.

Miami unfortunately has come out on top in a lot of these battles. The biggest win for the Hurricanes came when the No. 1 overall recruit Jackson Cantwell chose Miami over Georgia. On top of that, Miami has flipped a few Georgia commits this cycle as well which includes corner Jontavious Wyman and wide receiver Vance Spafford.

Georgia however has been able to beat Miami a good amount of times as well. This includes running back Jae Lamar and corner Justice Fitzpatrck. Georgia also beat Miami for five-star defensive lineman James Johnson, but unfortunately Johnson has since flipped his commitment to Texas.

While Miami may seem like a random team to constantly go up against on the recruiting trail, in reality it makes a lot of sense. Georgia and Miami are located somewhat close to each other geographically, and south Florida has a lot of elite talent in every recruiting class. So it isn't shocking at all that Georgia likes to head south to try and steal as much talent from Miami's backyard as possible.

Georgia and Miami haven't played each other on the field since 1966, but this would be a fun matchup for Kirby Smart to get on the schedule in the near future. Unfortunately Georgia's non-conference schedule for the next decade is already pretty full, but with the expanded College Football Playoff maybe these two teams will get to play each other sooner rather than later.
