Georgia football and Kirby Smart have been the hottest team in the country on the recruiting trail over the last week. Most Georgia fans know it is just a matter of time until UGA's recruiting momentum comes to an end, but that is yet to occur.
Georgia has earned countless elite commitments over the last week, but Saturday marked the best commitment of them all as the nation's No. 1 defensive lineman James Johnson has officially committed to Georgia over Texas, Florida and Miami (FL).

Georgia lands No. 1 DL for 7th commitment in a row
Beginning last Sunday, the Bulldogs have earned one commit each day. Johnson's commitment on Saturday now means that Georgia has done the unthinkable and earned a commit for an impressive seven days in a row.
While the Bulldogs have won the recruitments for many of the top recruits in the country over the last week, Johnson's commitment is potentially the best of all. The On3 industry rankings have Johnson as the No. 47 overall player in the country, but the On300 rankings have him much higher which includes being the No. 1 defensive lineman in the country.
Georgia just passed Texas A&M and Notre Dame for the No. 2 class ranking according to 247Sports entering Saturday, so this commitment will put a little more ground between them and Aggies and Irish. This commitment however isn't quite enough to move past USC for the No. 1 ranking, but that likely will change in the coming months as the Trojans still have six more commits than Georgia.
It's unclear if Georgia will add any more commits in the coming days or not, so their seven day streak could end on Sunday. But this past week has arguably been the greatest recruiting run in the history of Georgia football, so even if that ends on Sunday this stretch should be celebrated for the rest of the recruiting cycle.
