This is always a somewhat awkward time in the Georgia football program. Reason being because the team is gearing up for a run at a National Championship in the College Football Playoff, but the transfer portal has just opened and is taking center stage in the college football recruiting world. So not only does Kirby Smart and his staff have to decide who they want to target, but some of Georgia's players have a decision to make as well.
Do they want to enter the transfer portal in general this offseason? If so, do they want to do it now when the most opportunities elsewhere will be available to them or do they want to stay on the team for the CFP run?
This would definitely be a tough decision for someone debating if they want to enter the portal, and for some Bulldogs they have already decided that they will be entering the portal. And another entrant has just been added to that growing list as well.
Georgia DB Justyn Rhett has entered the transfer portal
Georgia football defensive back Justyn Rhett has announced that he has entered the transfer portal. The redshirt freshman has failed to make any sort of impact on the field during his time at UGA, so this may be the reason why he is entering the portal.
During his true freshman season, Rhett recorded one tackle in the one game he played in against Ball State. He then decided to redshirt, in hopes of getting more playing time this season, which unfortunately never ended up happening. This year, Rhett only played in Georgia's first two games, where he recorded two total tackles.
So this is yet another example of Georgia losing a player that may not impact the team that much. Yes it is unfortunate to see anyone leave, but sometimes that is the best decision for both parties, and that may be the case in this instance.
