Georgia football and Kirby Smart have received some wonderful recruiting news Monday evening when kicking specialist, Connor Ferguson, decided to flip his commitment from UNC-Charlotte to the Bulldogs.

The 5-foot-10 Ferguson kicked at Benedictine Military School in Savannah. He was ranked as one of the nation's top specialists and top kicker in the state of Georgia for the 2025 recruiting class. For Ferguson, despite a commitment to another program, the opportunity to play for the home state Bulldogs clearly was too good to pass up.

5-star kicker Connor Ferguson comments on commitment to Georgia

"I've been a Georgia fan since I was in kindergarten, and when I got to visit there and just loved the atmosphere, the school and the facilities — I mean, what's not to love,” Ferguson shared via savannahnow.com. “I developed a really strong relationship with the coaches there and that meant a lot. You could say this is a dream come true for me."

As a senior, Ferguson was 45 of 46 on PAT attempts,13 of 16 on field goal attempts which includes a season long of 52 yards. Ferguson also punted for Benedictine, averaging nearly 40 yards a punt.

Ferguson feels his biggest contribution and best opportunity to see the field early could come in the form of kickoffs, where he recorded 48 touchbacks his senior season. But based on his stats both as a field goal kicker and punter, there is a chance he could win the starting job for either of those positions as well.

Ferguson said he plans to major in aerospace or aeronautical engineering, which is something you don't hear too often from a football player. But this shows how smart of a person Ferguson is, which makes this commitment an even bigger deal for the future of Georgia's special teams.
