Everyone knows that football tends to be won in the trenches, that is why having an elite offensive and defensive line is so important. And that is something that has always been a strength of Georgia football's under Kirby Smart, and a lot of that is due to the talent he and his staff always recruit at that position.
And that continues to be the case as Smart and his staff are pursuing many elite prospects in the 2026 class in the trenches, which includes one of the top offensive lineman in the country who just put UGA in his top 12.
4-star offensive lineman Darius Gray
Darius Gray is a four-star offensive lineman from Richmond, VA. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 35 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 3 ranked offensive lineman as well as the No. 2 player from the state of Virginia.
Gray just released his top 12 schools in his recruitment, and Georgia has made the cut. South Carolina, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson, Penn State, Oregon, Virginia and Virginia Tech also made the cut along with Georgia as well.
Whenever Georgia is involved in a recruitment with this caliber of player, it is going to be very difficult to win, but Smart has done a very good job so far at staying in the race for Gray. However, they may not be one of the leaders in his recruitment right now as 247Sports has South Carolina and Tennessee as the only two teams labeled warm in his recruitment.
That all can change in a hurry as the offseason progresses and official visit season begins later this summer, but for now the Bulldogs are still in the running for one of the top lineman in the country which is a big deal at this point in the recruiting cycle.
