The end of the busy month of June recruiting is upon Georgia football, and that means one thing. It is officially commitment season.
Many recruits across the country like to announce their commitment and end their recruitments before their senior season in high school begins, and that is the case with many of Georgia’s targets. One target who Georgia hosted at the beginning of June who plans to announce his commitment soon is four-star EDGE Dre Quinn.
According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Quinn is the No. 263 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 26 EDGE and No. 29 player from the state of Georgia.
The Bulldogs were one of a few schools who hosted Quinn this month on an official visit, so this gave UGA some hope they could win this recruitment. Those hopes increased even more when Quinn set his commitment for June 19 on Tuesday. On top of that, Georgia was named a finalist for Quinn along with Notre Dame, Clemson, Texas, Georgia Tech and Tennessee.

However, just a few hours after this announcement word came out that Quinn would actually only be deciding between two schools on the 19th, and Georgia did not make the cut.

Georgia misses on key in-state EDGE
Before this final announcement from Quinn on Tuesday, it was unclear where Georgia really stood in his recruitment. Obviously UGA had a chance because he took the time to visit the Bulldogs earlier in June, but that visit apparently wasn’t enough to convince him to stay home and go to Georgia.
However, this loss on its own isn’t that big of a deal because there are plenty of other EDGE targets Georgia can pursue. But the Bulldogs only have two defensive line commitments in their 2026 class and they are yet to earn a commitment from a traditional EDGE. So Quinn would have been a huge addition to fill that void.
Regardless, this is a recruitment that will go down as a loss for Kirby Smart and Georgia and they will have to continue pursuing other targets in his place.
