Georgia football named one of college football's most "overrated" teams

How does this make any sense?

Georgia football has been the best program in the country the past few years. Two National Championships and two SEC titles will do just that, but not everyone is buying the hype that is Georgia over the past few years.

In fact, one publication has gone as far as to say that Kirby Smart and Georgia have been one of the most overrated teams in the country in the last three years.

Georgia has struggled against the spread

Pick Six Previews is a well-respected college football publication that has worked it's way up to earn a Hesiman vote for the owner of the publication. So this isn't some random troll online trying to slam Georgia, they are typically as unbiased as it comes. But they recently suggessted online that Georgia is one of the most overrated teams in the country during the last three years.

To be fair to the publication, they are only using Georgia's record against the spread to determine if they are overrated or not, so it's not like they themselves are calling UGA overrated. But calling Georgia overrated may not be the best word to use.

During the last three years, Georgia has won two SEC titles and a National Championship. Who cares what your record is against the spread, if any team finds that amount of success then the word overrated should never be uttered in their direction. But what does this data shared by Pick Six Previews tell us?

It tells us that Vegas and the public are very confident in Georgia. Many of the teams on this list are not very strong, so they have just underperformed over the last few years. But that isn't the case with Georiga. The public is overly confident that UGA will not just win, but win by a large margin, so that is why they have been coming up short against the spread so often.

So maybe the word overrated is appropriate based on that explanation, but Georgia probably shouldn't be included in this graphic then because no one has had a better three years than Georgia has.
