Georgia football named the "frontrunner" for priority OL recruit

Georgia football and Kirby Smart have been extremely busy on the recruiting trail recently. That will change soon as the college football world is about to enter a dead period in February, but until then Smart and his staff will continue to pursue their top targets.

This includes a lot of in-home visits with their top recruits as well as big events like the Bulldogs' second Junior Day later this weekend.

But until then, it's fun to pay attention to who Smart is visiting because that typically is a great indication as to who Georgia's top recruiting targets are. And one player that Smart visited Wednesday morning is a very intriguing recruit to pay attention to.

3-star offensive lineman Desmond Green

Desmond Green is a three-star offensive lineman from Saint Stephen, SC. According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Green is the No. 395 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 37 interior offensive lineman in the 2026 class as well as the No. 7 player from his home state of South Carolina.

This visit may not seem like that big of a deal on the surface, but a recent quote from Green shared by Sam Spiegelman with Rivals definitely is exciting.

"They are the frontrunners in my recruitment."

247Sports also lists Clemson and South Carolina as the two other teams leading Green's recruitment, but Georgia is the No. 1 team in this recruitment according to Green himself.

That may be a little surprising considering Georgia's biggest competition are the two big in-state schools from South Carolina, but that just speaks to how much respect Georgia has earned from everyone across the country. Recruits from all over want to play for Georgia no matter how good the in-state schools might be where they are from, and this is yet another example of that.

So hopefully Georgia is able to wrap this recruitment up in a hurry, because it sounds like Green wants to become a Bulldog.
