It’s been well documented how successful Georgia football has been when it comes to recruiting the quarterback position this recruiting cycle. The Bulldogs had Jared Curtis, the top ranked QB in the country, committed to their class before he unfortunately decided to back off that commitment last year.

Fast forward to this May and Curtis committed to Georgia once again, and this time it seems like he won’t be going anywhere. But even though Georgia has their QB of the future heading to Athens, they still need to continue recruiting the position at a high level.

And that’s exactly what Kirby Smart and his staff are doing with their latest offer they just handed out.

Georgia eyeing nation’s top ranked QB in 2027 class

Late Sunday night, word came out that Georgia has offered five-star quarterback Elijah Haven. This offer isn’t just any offer though, because Haven is the No. 1 overall player in the country, according to 247Sports.

Haven is in the 2027 recruiting class, so there isn’t direct competition between him and Curtis. But Curtis already coming to Georgia as the No. 1 QB in the country in the 2026 class could be problematic for Georgia’s pursuit of Haven.

Outside of kickers, quarterback is the only position where only one player gets to play. Every other position is a lot easier to stack talent because more than one player sees the field at the same time, but that isn’t the case at QB.

So more often than not, most schools are unable to land the best quarterbacks in the country multiple years in a row. These QBs are talented enough to play very early in their college careers, so they don’t want to sit behind other quarterbacks and wait for their turn.

It’s unclear if this will deter Haven from Gerogia, but it is a very real possibility. But even if that happens, Georgia is more than secure for years to come with Curtis heading to Athens next year.
