Georgia football on the verge of landing first transfer

Is Georgia football close to finally earning their first transfer commitment of the season?

Kirby Smart and Georgia football have been very active this transfer portal cycle, but they unfortunately have not been able to land any commitments yet. This is a concerning fact because almost every other program in the country has landed at least one transfer if not more by now.

If Smart and his staff weren't active in the portal then this wouldn't matter all that much, but they have been extremely active. They have gone after a lot of transfers, they just haven't been able to win a recruitment yet. That however could be changing very soon as a crystal ball prediction on 247Sports was just logged in favor of Georgia to land their first transfer commitment.

UAB transfer safety Adrian Maddox

Adrian Maddox is a safety from UAB who originally began his career at Alabama State in 2022. He played at Alabama State for two seasons where he totaled 70 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and two interceptions during that time.

After the 2023 season, Maddox made the decision to enter the transfer portal and make the move to UAB. Maddox spent just one season with UAB this year where he had his best season of his career. He finished the year with 44 tackles, seven passes defended, two forced fumbles, one interception and one touchdowns. And after this strong season with UAB, Maddox once again entered the transfer portal and is looking for a new program.

And it appears that Georgia could be that new program. Georgia will have some depth to replace in the secondary next season, so even though Maddox may not be a starter he would be a solid backup option for the Bulldogs. Maddox also is originally from Georgia, so it is always nice to see a former Georgia player return home and play for the Bulldogs.

It is unclear when Maddox plans to announce his commitment, but all signs currently point to Georgia finally getting some good news out of the transfer portal.
