Georgia football is off to a somewhat slow start in the 2026 recruiting class. As it stands today, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs only have four players committed to their recruiting class. That may not be a horrible spot to be in considering it's still January, but other programs like Oregon and Texas A&M already have 10 commits. So it's clear they have some catching up to do.
While Smart and his staff work to add more players to their recruiting class, they also need to continue to recruit their current commits so they don't lose anyone in their class. Unfortunately there is always a chance that someone committed to Georgia could change their mind and commit elsewhere, and it turns out that one of Georgia's commits is at least taking a close look at another program.

4-star WR Vance Spafford
Four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford is one of the top players in the entire country. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Spafford is the No. 56 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 9 wide receiver in his class and the No. 9 player from his home state of California.
Spafford is the highest ranked commit in Georgia's class right now, so losing him would be disastrous. While it's unclear if he will ever decommit from Georgia right now, Spafford did announce on Sunday that he will be taking a visit to USC who just recently offered him.
In today's day and age, it isn't abnormal for committed players to take visits to other schools. But this visit feels different because Spafford is from California and USC is the top program in the area. So there is a chance that Spafford grew up wanting to play for the Trojans, and if that's the case then Georgia could be falling behind in his recruitment.
It will be interesting to see the reaction Spafford gives after this visit, but hopefully Smart and his staff are able keep him in Georgia's class because he would be a huge addition to the program.
