Georgia football's season may have just ended to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff, but there is no time to relax as the Bulldogs clearly have a lot of work to do on the recruiting trail. Thankfully Kirby Smart and his staff never take any time off in recruiting, so the expectation is that Georgia will see a lot of good news throughout the offseason beginning now.
And that was the case on Friday as Georgia officially made the top four for one of the best athletes in the country.
4-star athlete Matt Ludwig
Matt Ludwig is a four-star athlete from Billings, MT. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Ludwig is the No. 268 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 19 athlete in the 2026 class and the top ranked player from his home state of Montana.
Ludwig can play a variety of positions at the next level, but most believe he will be a tight end once he gets to college.
According to Brandon Huffman with 247Sports, Ludwig has released his top four schools on Friday and Georgia made the cut. Also included in his top four with the Bulldogs are Michigan, Tennessee and Texas Tech.
This will be a fun recruitment to monitor throughout the offseason as this is a very interesting group of schools to make his top four. The Bulldogs are used to going up against some of these schools on the recruiting trail, but it's hard to remember a time when all four were going after the same player together.
The next step in Ludwig's recruitment will likely be visiting each of these four schools. So hopefully Smart and his staff are able to knock their visit out of the park so they can take the lead in this recruitment.
