One name that every Georgia football fan is going to want to monitor on the recruiting trail for the 2026 class is Derrek Cooper. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Cooper is a five-star ATH and the No. 23 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 3 ATH in his class as well as the No. 3 player from his home state of Florida.
Kirby Smart and his staff have made it very clear that they are extremely interested in Cooper as they have been recruiting Cooper very hard recently. And that was recently seen when Smart took the time to visit Cooper in person this past Tuesday.

These recent recruiting efforts have been rewarded as well as Georgia received two pieces of massive news surrounding Cooper's recruitment recently.

Georgia football likely in Cooper's top 2
As seen in the above post from Hayes Fawcett with On3, Georgia has officially made the top 10 for Cooper. Florida State, Alabama, Florida, Penn State, Miami (FL), Auburn, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Ole Miss are the nine other programs that made the cut for Cooper as well.
While making Cooper's top 10 is a big deal, it appears that Georgia is actually much higher on his list right now. In fact, the Bulldogs appear to be in Cooper's top two based on the below post from Chad Simmons who is also with On3.

Cooper has only scheduled two official visits so far, and those visits are with Miami and Georgia. So it appears that these are Cooper's top two schools right now.
This would be a fun recruitment to win if Georgia and Miami are in fact the top two schools after the Hurricanes stole Carson Beck from Georgia. But regardless of that storyline, Cooper is an elite player that Georgia would be lucky to have in their program, so that is reason enough to go all out in this recruitment.
