By now we all know that recruiting rankings do not tell the full story. There are so many examples of highly ranked recruits who never lived up to the hype and low ranked recruits who became superstars in college and the NFL.

But recruiting rankings tend to be right more often than they are wrong. That is one of the reasons why Georgia football is always at the top of the college football world, because they are regularly bringing in the most talent compared to most other programs in the country.

Georgia has seen their fair share of five stars over the years under Kirby Smart, but a new Georgia commit just earned their fifth star, and it is a very big deal.

5-star WR Talyn Taylor

Georgia wide receiver commit Talyn Taylor has officially earned his fifth star on the 247Sports composite ranings. According to those rankings, Taylor is the No. 29 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 7 ranked wide receiver and the No. 1 ranked player from Illinois.

Taylor has been all Georiga for a long time in his recruitment. In fact, according to his 247Sports profile, he hasn't made a visit to another school since last November. Taylor attend Georgia's Junior Day in February, took an official visit at the end of May, then committed to Georgia on June 11. He has neven waivered since then, and looks to be 100 percent locked in with Georgia.

This ranking update is significant for Gerogia because they have not had a five-star wide receiver out of high school since 2019. For a prgram like Georgia, six years is a very long time to go without bringing in a five-star at a specific position.

As mentioned though, this is no guarantee that Taylor is going to be a superstar, but it definitely raises our confidence that he could become one.
