Georgia football enters the first half against Ole Miss trailing the Rebels 21-20. There were a lot of good and bad that came out of this half for Georgia, and it just so happened that all of the good came on the offensive side of the ball.
Pretty much everyone involved with the offense did an exceptional job, but the MVP of the offense is the last person anyone would have expected before the game. And that person is offensive coordinator Mike Bobo.
Mike Bobo was Georgia's MVP during 1st half against Ole Miss
Georgia's offense was off and running during the first half against Ole Miss the moment they got the ball. The Bulldogs received the opening kickoff and marched down the field and immediately put three points on the board. This drive likely would have ended in a touchdown, but an offensive pass interference ended all of their momentum. But after the slow starts Georgia has had the last few weeks, three points felt like a big win.
The following two drives though were perfect from Georgia. The Bulldogs ran a great mix of pass and run plays along with some trickeration that kept the Rebels defense on their toes. Bobo deserves all of the credit for these drives which ended up resulting in back to back touchdowns and 17 points from Georgia's first three drives.
The bad news for Bobo and Georgia's offense is that UGA's defense is nowhere to be found. Ole Miss was able to have their way with the Bulldogs defense and scored three touchdowns in their three first half drives.
Ole Miss gets the ball to start the second half, so something is going to have to change on defense if Georgia is going to stand a chance at winning this game. But all Bobo can do is continue calling an amazing game and hope that the defense figures things out on their end.
