Georgia football has not earned a commitment from a running back yet in the 2026 recruiting class. That fact may be a little scary, but this is due to many of Georgia’s targets not announcing where they are committing to yet.

That will change with one of Georgia’s top targets at the position as four-star Jae Lamar will announce his commitment on June 25 at 2:30 pm EST.

Georgia fans should expect good news from Jae Lamar

According to the above post from Lamar’s high school football social media page, he will be announcing his commitment at 2:30 pm EST on June 25. Lamar will be deciding between Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, Miami (FL), Georgia Tech and Florida State.

This decision from Lamar is critical for Georgia because they do not have a running back committed to their 2026 class yet. On top of that, many of UGA’s other targets at the position appear to be trending to other programs as well. So missing on Lamar could be disastrous for Georgia.

Thankfully it’s looking like Georgia is the favorite entering his commitment as the Bulldogs have a crystal ball prediction in their favor on 247Sports. On3 also has Georgia as the massive favorite in this recruitment as they give UGA an 87.3 percent chance to win this battle.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Lamar is the No. 107 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 8 running back in the 2026 class and the No. 12 overall player from the Peach State. So if Lamar chooses Georgia, he will immediately become one of UGA’s highest ranked commits in this class.

And thankfully it’s looking like Lamar will choose Georgia, which will mark the fourth day in a row that Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have earned a commitment.
