Georgia Football's SEC title hopes partially relies on help from Alabama and Texas

Georgia football could really use some help from some of their SEC rivals to ensure they make it into the SEC Championship game.

Texas A&M Aggies

Things get even more interesting when looking at the tiebreaker between Texas A&M and Georgia. Similarly to LSU, Georgia does not play the Aggies this season, so we need to move on to tiebreaker number two.

When looking at the second tiebreaker, which again looks at the school each team has lost to in conference play, this does not separated the two programs either. Texas A&M does not play Georgia's one loss (Alabama) and Georgia does not play the Aggies one loss (South Carolina). This means we need to move to the third tiebreaker to try and separate these two sides.

The third tiebreaker again looks at the common opponents between the tied teams and seeing if any of them beat one of the teams and not the other. This process would begin with the common opponent who finishes highest in the SEC standings and working down from there.

Georiga and A&M share four conference opponents this season (Florida, Mississippi State, Auburn and Texas). Thankfully for Georgia they have beaten all four teams already while A&M is 2-0 with games against Auburn and Texas still to be played. So as of today, this third tiebreaker doesn't settle the difference, but it could if A&M loses to either Auburn or Texas. This point however is irrelevant because if A&M loses one of these games, they won't be tied with Georgia anymore as long as UGA wins out.

If A&M wins these last two games, we then have to head to the fourth of six tiebreakers, and this one likely will break any tie. This tiebreaker essentially is a strength of schedule comparison, which awards the tied team who played more of the better SEC teams compared to the other tied team. So if Georgia's eight SEC opponents have a better conference record than A&M's eight SEC opponents, they would win the tiebreaker.

Unlike LSU, it is likely Texas A&M loses another SEC game this season. Their season finale is against Texas, and as of today it looks like that will be a game the Longhorns win.

Long story short, Georgia still needs some help to get into the SEC Championship game. The tiebreaker with Texas is already determined and the one with Tennessee will figure it itself out in two weeks, but there is a chance Georgia loses the tiebreaker between LSU and Texas A&M if all three teams win out.

Thankfully Georgia would only need to win one of those two tiebreakers, but let's hope it never even gets to that point. Let's hope that Georgia wins out and either LSU or A&M lose another SEC game, that way there is no need to go through this confusing tiebreaker process to determine who advances to play for an SEC Championship.
