The 2026 recruiting cycle is coming to an end in a little over a month, and Georgia still has some work to do to put a bow on their class. Georgia does have the No. 2 class in the country, but they have a few glaring holes which includes the need for a second offensive tackle.
The Bulldogs pursuit of a second offensive tackle has been frustrating to say the least, but those frustrations came to an end as Georgia earned a commitment from an elite tackle in Jermaine Mitchell on Friday.

Georgia steals elite OT from Mississippi State
Mitchell is a member of the 2026 recruiting class, but he entered this recruiting cycle after spending some time at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Mitchell was dominant in his career at the Junior College level, so much so that he is the No. 1 ranked JUCO offensive tackle in the country, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He also is the No. 8 overall player from the Junior College level as well.
Mitchell was originally committed to Mississippi State, but he has since decided that Georgia is the right program for him. So not only is Georgia adding the best offensvie tackle in the country to their recruiting class, but they did so by stealing him from an SEC rival.
Mitchell will arrive in Athens next season ready to contribute from the moment he steps foot on campus. That typically is something very difficult to do in a player's first year at the division one level, but he has the tools needed to immediately compete for a starting spot on Georgia's offensive line.
The Bulldogs still have the No. 2 recruiting class in the country, but they are closing in on USC for the top spot. And all it will take is just a couple more commitments for Georgia to officially take the No. 1 class ranking from the Trojans.
