Georgia football has been very fortunate on the recruiting trail throughout the program’s history as the Bulldogs always seem to have one of the highest ranked classes in the country. That fact has not only remained true under Kirby Smart, but he has amplified it even more.

But who are the 10 highest ranked commits in Georgia football history? Some players might immediately come to mind, but 247Sports makes it very easy to look back and see who those 10 players are.

So let’s jump right in and see who the top 10 commits in Georgia’s history are according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Top 10 Georgia recruits of all time

1. QB Justin Fields: .9998 - class of 2018

2. CB Ellis Robinson: .9994 - class of 2024

3. EDGE Nolan Smith: .9994 - class of 2019

4. DL Elijah Griffin: .9992 - class of 2025

Key Takeaways

The first thing that immediately stands out is the fact that Georgia has two players inside the top four highest ranked commits of all time that are currently on the time. Both Ellis Robinson (No. 2) and Elijah Griffin (No. 4) are also on the Bulldogs’ defense, so they likely will help Georgia continue to excel on that side of the football.

The top ranked commit in Georgia history also stands out, but not for the reasons Georgia fans want. Quarterback Justin Fields is the highest ranked Georgia commit of all time, but he unfortuantely never found his footing in Athens. Fields would go on to transfer to Ohio State where he found a lot of success with the Buckeyes, but for now it’s unfortunate that UGA’s best commit won’t be remembered as a Bulldog.

The last thing that jumps out is four of Georgia’s 10 best commits are players on the defensive line. Combine that with three more players who played quarterback and you can quickly see how dominant Georgia has been recruiting those two very important positions.
