The first game week of the Georgia football season is officially here. In less than a week the Bulldogs will kick their season off against Marshall with the hope of repeating as SEC Champions this season.

As one would assume, Kirby Smart and Georgia are a massive favorite against Marshall, but anything is possible in college football this early in the season. So let's take a look at what Vegas has to say about this game so Georgia fans can start making their predicitions for UGA's first game of the season.

Georgia vs. Marshall Current Odds

As of Sunday, Aug. 24 at 7:30 am EST, Georgia is a 39.5 point favorite over Marshall according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The over-under for this game is set at 55.5 points as well. ESPN's Football Power Index is extremely high on Georgia's chances as well as they give the Bulldogs a 97.3 percent chance to win this game.

Georgia vs. Marshall Prediction

It is not a matter of if Georgia will win this game, it's a matter of how much they will win by. The spread suggests that this game will be a massive a blowout, but it's hard to imagine Georgia winning by 40 points during the first game of this season.

The Bulldogs have a lot of new faces that came to the program both from the Transfer Portal and from the incoming freshman high school class. Sure these players all had plenty of time to get acclimated with the program this offseason, but nothing compares to running out in front of thousands of Georgia fans for the first time in Sanford Stadium. There will be some early season jitters they need to work through, but that is okay for the first game of the season.

This will also only be Gunner Stockton's second start of his career, so he may need a few series to get himself going as well.

Georgia will easily win this game, but this game will be much closer than anyone is hoping for throughout the first half. The Bulldogs will pull away late, but they will not even come close to covering the spread Vegas has set.

Prediction: Georgia wins 33-13
