Georgia football enters the half at Ole Miss trailing 16-7. Not much has gone right for Georgia so far this game, and they are clearly going to have to make a lot of adjustments if they're going to come away with a win.

Here are a few quick thoughts from the first half as Kirby Smart and his staff try to figure out what adjustments to make in the second half.

Perfect start... until it wasn't

Georgia got off to as good of a start as anyone could have hoped for. The Georgia defense got a big sack on the second play of the game and then an interception on the very next play to set the UGA offense up with perfect field position. Then Carson Beck and the offense were able to take advantage of that field position behind a Nate Frazier touchdown run on 4th and goal from the two.

After that however, it was all Ole Miss.

Starting quarterback Jaxson Dart was sidelined during the second Ole Miss drive after getting injured during the first series. But backup Austin Simmons led the Rebels on an easy 10 play, 75 yard touchdown drive.

Ole Miss was back in the game just like that, and they all had the momentum.

Georgia offense goes cold

The Georgia offense had a chance to snatch the momentum back, but they couldn't do anything productive on offense. Their next two drives after the Ole Miss touchdown lasted three plays each, and the Bulldogs punted and gave the Rebels offense solid field position.

Bend don't break defense

During the next three defensive drives, Georgia's defense gave up a lot of yards to Ole Miss. On the bright side, they were able to keep them out of the end zone and forced three field goals. The Bulldogs defense is too good to play bend don't break defense, but forcing three field goals instead of giving up touchdowns was huge to keep the game close.

Ole Miss was the far better team

If Georgia fans are honest with themselves, Ole Miss was the far better team that half. The Rebels outgained Georgia 229-69 and the Ole Miss defense had more control of the game than Georgia's defense did.

On the bright side for Georgia, they still have another half of football to flip the script. Georgia gets the ball to start the second half, so they have a chance to put some points on the board and get back in this game.

It goes without saying that Georgia needs to play much better if they want to win this game. Smart is known for making great second half adjustments, and he's going to need to do that again if UGA is going to come back and win this game.
