Georgia football is entering their SEC opener at No. 15 Tennessee after a disappointing win over Austin Peay this past weekend. There however is no time for Georgia to hang their heads because Tennessee so far has looked like one of the top teams in the conference.

This game realistically could go either way, so let’s take a quick look at how Vegas views this game and make a prediction as game week gets underway.

Georgia vs Tennessee current odds

As of 11:00 pm EST on Sunday, Sep. 7, Georgia is a 4.5 point favorite against Tennessee for their week three showdown according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The over-under for this game is also set at 49.5 points as well.

ESPN has a vastly different prediction for this game however as they currently give Tennessee a 51.5 percent to win this game.

Georgia vs Tennessee prediction

Georgia has been as dominant against Tennessee as they’ve been against any other team in the country under Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs have won eight straight games against Tennessee, with every win coming by at least 14 points. This includes their 31-17 victory over the Vols last season in Athens.

These two teams bowever are playing each other much earlier in the season than they typically do. This means that there is still so little known about both teams, which makes this matchup that much more exciting.

One thing we do know about Georgia is that their defense is just as dominant as they’ve always been. Tennessee’s offense looks just as good as well as they just put up 70 points this past week. The Bulldogs defense has always had an answer for Tennessee’s electric offense in the past, but can they do the same again this year?

Then there’s Georgia’s offense who just struggled against Austin Peay, but Tennessee’s defense did give up 17 points against ETSU this past weekend too. So which unit will step up the most this weekend?

This year’s matchup does feel like it could be the year Tennessee is finally able to overcome Georgia, but until that actually happens it’s impossible to predict the Vols to actually win this game.

Prediction: Georgia wins 31-21
