Georgia football's season opener against Tennessee State is just a few hours away, and Vegas is predicting a blowout victory for UGA. The Bulldogs however typically struggle against big spreads, but this year could be different.

At the end of the day the only thing that truly matters is winning this game by a comfortable margin, but let's take a look at what Vegas thinks will happen during the Bulldogs' week one matchup against Tennessee State.

Georgia vs Tennessee State final odds

As of 7:00 am EST, Georgia is favored over Tennessee State by 47.5 points, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The over-under for this game is set at 54.5 points as well.

ESPN's matchup predictor heavily favors Georgia as well as they give the Bulldogs a 99 percent chance to win this game.

Saturday marks the first meeting in program history between Georgia and Tennessee State. While there is no history to look back on for this game, Georgia has never lost to a non-Power Four school while Kirby Smart has been head coach. In fact, Georgia hasn't lost to a non-Power Four team since the 2011 season opener against Boise State. That Boise State was the No. 5 team in the country though, so that hardly felt like a loss to a non-Power Four school.

Georgia vs Tennessee State prediction

Georgia will beat Tennessee State by a wide margin. The question has never been if Georgia will win this game it has been how much they will win by, and history shows that they won't win by as much as the spread indicates.

Georgia has been favored by at least 38.5 points 16 times during Kirby Smart's tenure. They have won each of those games, but they are 0-15-1 against the spread. That's right, Georgia has never covered a spread this large under Smart likely due to the fact that he likes to pull his starters once the game is in hand.

For the 17th time in a row Georgia won't cover this large of a spread, but they will win by enough points to make fans happy. No one will Athens will leave the game wondering if they should be concerned about this team because they will win by at least 30 points and give the backups plenty of time to play.

Gunner Stockton will be one of the reasons for the big win. He will show off his arm by throwing two touchdown passes to go with another on the ground. Nate Frazier will get a rushing touchdown of his own as will Dwight Phillips.

Georgia's defense will also show how great they are again this year. They will not give up a touchdown all game and they will force multiple turnovers and record a couple sacks which were so difficult to come by last year.

Georgia will handle their business against an overmatched Tennessee State team which will allow UGA to welcome in the college football season with a stress-free victory.

Game odds adjust periodically and are subject to change.
