Georgia football's 2025 season is set to begin in just a few short days. While that is extremely exciting, this year's team has a lot of question marks surrounding them that need to be answered.
College football expert Kirk Herbstreit recently shared his thoughts about Georgia heading into this season, and he shared three big questions that the Bulldogs will have to answer if they want to repeat as SEC Champions.
Is Gunner Stockton "the guy" for Georgia?
Herbstreit is not convinced that Gunner Stockton will be the answer for Georgia this season. To be fair he didn't say that he doubts Stockton, but he is waiting to see what Stockton does for Georiga this season before he puts a lot of faith in him.
Thankfully Georgia's first two games are against easy opponents, so he will have two games to increase his confidence before UGA's SEC season begins.
Does Georgia have enough playmakers around Stockton?
Regardless of if Stockton is good enough for Georgia this season or not, he will need a lot of playmakers on offense to help him. Just like with Stockton, Herbstreit doesn't sound convinced that the Bulldogs have enough weapons on offense to help him, but that couldn't be further from the truth.
Georgia brought in wide receiver transfers Noah Thomas and Zachariah Branch who both immediately became starters for UGA once they arrived on campus. On top of that, Georgia has three or four running backs who are good enough to play a lot this season, so the run game should be much improved.
Georgia's offense still has to show that they can put all the pieces togethers, but the pieces are all clearly there.
Can Georgia replace the talent lost on their defensive line?
The best Georgia teams are always carried by their defense. Georgia's defensive line specifically has been the group that has been full of elite NFL talent year in and year out throughout Smart's tenure. But Herbstreit isn't certain they have the talent to replace guys like Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams who are off to the NFL.
Georgia does have Christen Miller who projects to be one of the best defensive linemen in the entire country, but after him there aren't as many proven players. So Herbstreit has the right to question this group, but history shows that this is a position that no one should ever worry about at Georgia.
