The end of the first year for SEC newcomers Texas and Oklahoma is almost here. And while Georgia has had the opportunity to compete against these schools in many sports, they are three sports that will always stand out compared to the rest.

And when looking at those three sports (football, men's basketball and baseball), Georgia has been very dominant over both schools in their first season in the SEC. But it's Georgia's dominance over the Longhorns, who pride themselves on being one of the top athletic departments in the country, that has been the most impressive.

Georgia began their dominance over Texas on the football field where they beat Texas on the road during the regular season and in Atlanta in the SEC Championship game. There really is no better way to welcome Texas to the SEC than beating them in their own stadium and in the SEC title game.

But Georgia's dominance didn't stop there as they also beat the Longhorns in basketball 83-67, a game which also took place at Texas as well.

Georgia now has one final opportunity to assert their dominance over the Longhorns, and that will take place this weekend on the baseball diamond.

Top 5 matchup looming in Texas

Georgia baseball has been on a roll all season long as they currently sit at 29-2 on the season with an 8-1 record in SEC play. But their biggest matchup of the season takes place this weekend as the No. 2 Bulldogs travel to Texas to take on the No. 5 Longhorns. Both teams are in first place in the SEC with one conference loss, so this series will go a long way in determining who will win the conference this season.

Georgia has swept their last two SEC opponents (Florida and Auburn), but that should not be expected this series. A series sweep is certianly the goal, but winning two out of three to take the series win back to Athens would be just fine as well.

And while the baseball team will be focused solely on their task at hand, it's impossible for Georgia fans to not think about what a series win this weekend would mean for Georgia athletics as a whole. Beating a program like Texas in all three major sports on the road would be no small feat, and this would undoubtedly announce to the rest of the SEC that Georgia is the top dog in the conference compared to the Longhorns.
