Georgia’s matchup against Ole Miss later this week is one of the most intriguing games in this round of the College Football Playoff. Not only is this a rematch from earlier this season, but Ole Miss will be without head coach Lane Kiffin who is the new coach at LSU.

These two storylines will dominate the discourse heading into this game, and unfortunately for Georgia they both give Ole Miss extra motivation. But Georgia can draw on some extra motivation as well because they lost to Notre Dame in this round of the playoff last year.

And this extra dose of motivation could be the thing that carries Georgia to victory.

Gorgia’s key advantage vs Ole Miss could lead them to victory

Last year’s defeat to Notre Dame was about as ugly as it can get. The Irish won 23-10, but the game felt even more out of reach than that.

It’s hard to blame Georgia for that loss because it was Gunner Stockton’s first career start, but the expectation was for them to still win and they unfortunately didn’t even come close to that.

That result however should do wonders for the team this season because the last thing they want is for their season to end exactly how it did last year. Not only did Georgia lose in the quarterfinals last season, but they also lost in the Sugar Bowl as well. So this would be a serious case of deja vu if Georgia were to lose again.

Stockton has already expressed how he is drawing on last year’s loss for extra motivation this season. And if the entire team follows his lead then it’s hard to imagine a scenario where Georgia loses this game.

Kickoff between Ole Miss and Georgia is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 1 at 8:00 pm EST.
