Five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson is a name that every Georgia football fan is going to want to learn, if you haven't already. He is the No. 1 linebacker in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings as well as the top ranked player from his home state of Georgia. Nationally, he is the No. 10 overall player in the country.
Seemingly every school in the country is after Atkinson, and why shouldn't they be? He is someone that every porgram could use on their team, and that includes Georgia. Thankfully Kirby Smart and his staff have been aggressively recruiting Atkinson for a very long time now, and most think that Georgia is one of the teams to beat in his recruitment right now.
But this past month was a big month in Atkinson's recruitment. The drama surrounding the 2025 recruiting class is over, and now everyone is turning their attention on Atkinson and the rest of the 2026 class. So now that everyone has their full attention on the 2026 class, who was having the most success with Atkinson during January?
Who is visiting Tyler Atkinson?
As mentioned, so many programs are attempting to do the best they can in Atkinson's recruitment. However, there are three teams that may have separated themselves according to Jeff Sentell with Dawg Nation.
Sentell shared that while many schools have visited with Atkinson this month, only three programs visited him and his family at their house. And that was Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee.
This is significant because of how challenging it can be to have an intimate visit like this. It is much easier to visit a recruit at their high school, but to be invited to step foot in that recruit's home is a big deal. That shows that the entire family trusts the program visiting their home and have a lot of interest in committing to that program.
So while this may not be Atkinson's official top three schools, it does show that he is very high on the Bulldogs along with his family. And when combining that with the fact that Georgia already has a crystal ball prediction in their favor on 247Sports, Georgia very well could be the team at the top of Atkinson's recruitment right now.
