Georgia football is entering the 2025 season with a big target on their back. UGA is the reigning SEC Champion, so every other team in the conference want nothing more than to be the school that knocks Kirby Smart and Georgia off their pedestal.
And while Georgia will once again be one of the favorites to win the SEC again this season, there are a lot of reasons why that will be very difficult. Losing a lot of talent to the NFL and transfer portal will always be tough to overcome. Georgia also having to start a new QB while having the most difficult schedule in the SEC will be very challenging as well.
But there are also a lot of reasons why Georgia will have a great chance to win the SEC, including one reason that so far has gone unnoticed.

Georgia has easiest travel schedule among all SEC teams
Road games are some of the more challenging games on the schedule every season. Not only because the SEC has a lot of good teams with difficult environments to play in, but because of how exhausting it can be to travel to those games. So it’s a fair assumption to make that those teams with the lightest travel schedule will have an advantage over everyone else.
That is good news for Georgia because they have the easiest travel schedule out of all the teams in the SEC. According to the above chart, Georgia will only travel 1,886 miles throughout the 2025 regular season, which is spread across five games. This is the lowest amount of miles in the SEC by far, with the next closest team being Ole Miss who will travel 2,521 miles.
Texas sits at the top of the chart at 9,077 miles followed by rival Oklahoma at 7,034 miles.
While there are countless other factors that will impact Georgia in all of their games this season, having the easiest travel schedule can’t be ignored. And it’s impossible to ignore the fact that the SEC Championship game will be in Atlanta once again, which is always a huge benefit to UGA as well if they can make it there.
