Georgia's Kirby Smart beats out Ohio State and others for 4-star Cali DB

Another big recruiting win for Smart.

Stop us if you've heard this before, but the Georgia Bulldogs have landed a standout prospect and they've beat out plenty of programs in order to do so. On Thursday afternoon, the news head man Kirby Smart and his staff were hoping for arrived.

That news is that four-star safety Zech Fort doesn't need any more time to figure out where he's going to play his college ball. Moments ago, the touted prospect revealed that he'll be taking his game to Athens, with Georgia landing his commitment:

Fort is a standout for IMG Academy and he's got plenty of Bulldogs fans excited about his future in the SEC. Throughout his recruitment, he picked up offers from more than 30 programs, including Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Florida State and many others.

According to On3's Hayes Fawcett, the newest UGA pledge was also heavily considering Alabama, Ohio State and Notre Dame. In the end, however, he decided that Georgia is the best fit for him. According to the 247Sports Composite, Fort, a 5-10, 190-pounder, is ranked the No. 8 safety in the country and No. 104 player nationally.

With Fort on board, Smart and the Bulldogs are now up to five known verbal pledges for the 2026 class. Fort is joined by receiver Vance Spafford, tight end Lincoln Keyes, cornerback Jontavius Wyman and defensive lineman Seven Cloud.

The Bulldogs hold the No. 12 class in the country for '26, but you already know UGA will be ready to push for one of the top hauls in the nation once everything is all said and done. Smart is a magician when it comes to recruiting, and he's known for landing some of the top talents out there. This has once again been showcased with Fort being Athens-bound.
