With only one game left to be played between No. 1 Indiana and No. 10 Miami, On3 has already moved on to next year. Frankly, many of us here in Dawg Nation have with the Georgia Bulldogs coming up short vs. the Ole Miss Rebels in their rematch in the Sugar Bowl. While both teams are being held in high regard entering next fall, only one of them could be winning the SEC next season...
Here is who On3 has tabbed as their way-too-early college football top 25 for the upcoming season.
- Ohio State Buckeyes
- Georgia Bulldogs
- Texas Longhorns
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish
- Indiana Hoosiers
- Oregon Ducks
- Texas Tech Red Raiders
- Texas A&M Aggies
- Miami Hurricanes
- Oklahoma Sooners
- Michigan Wolverines
- LSU Tigers
- BYU Cougars
- Penn State Nittany Lions
- Ole Miss Rebels
- Utah Utes
- Alabama Crimson Tide
- Washington Huskies
- USC Trojans
- Tennessee Volunteers
- Iowa Hawkeyes
- Houston Cougars
- Virginia Tech Hokies
- Florida Gators
- Arizona Wildcats
And if you want a visual representation of that, they shared out their top 25 over on X for us all to see.

The big takeaway from On3's way-too early top 25 is who is at the very top of it. Ohio State, Georgia, and Texas being one, two, three speaks volumes. These are arguably the most talent-laden teams entering this offseason. While Georgia and Ohio State did not win a playoff game this year, at least they made the 12-team field, unlike Texas... Still, there is so much to dissect from the list On3 gave us.
What does it really mean to have UGA coming in at No. 2, behind only Ohio State, but ahead of Texas?
Georgia Bulldogs are ranked favorably in On3's way-too-early top 25
Let's be honest with ourselves. A lot can change between now and Labor Day Weekend. While there will not be a second transfer portal window opening up after spring practice, we could debate who the best college football teams are entering next season for the rest of time. Right now, it is next to impossible to argue for teams like Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas to be out of a way-too-early top 25.
We are talking about three well-coached teams with loaded rosters and proven starting quarterbacks under center. While nobody is a lock to make the playoff, Georgia and Ohio State are one of only four teams to make the first two 12-team playoffs, with the others being Indiana and Oregon. Although both come in at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively, the best bet to make it back after missing out is Texas.
In the end, we still need to see where the final few transfer portal pieces end up going. If Miami does secure the commitment of Darian Mensah out of Duke, that could skyrocket the Hurricanes near the top of this list. Other teams like LSU and Texas Tech who landed marquee quarterbacks in the portal could move up as well, especially after we see how these guys come together with their new teams.
For now, UGA fans should be more than satisfied to see Georgia as the top Dawgs in the SEC again.
